EMGP, Inhabited Palisade
At the heart of the Entrepôts des Magasins Généraux site in Aubervilliers, a requalified façade becomes an inhabited wooden palisade conceived as a self-contained building. More than 1,000 m² of shops and services are created at the foot of the façade. A long, gently sloping, tree-lined promenade, which changes with the seasons, leads to a belvedere offering panoramic views of the site.

The “EMGP Shops and Hanging Gardens” project in Aubervilliers, designed by the firm Loci Anima, is part of the transformation of the Entrepôts et Magasins Généraux de Paris (EMGP) site, a large 19th-century industrial complex. This project aims to introduce local services for the 5,000 employees present on site while respecting the historical identity of the place.
Architecture in dialogue with heritage
The building stands out with its wooden façade, described as a “living palisade,” conceived as an autonomous element. This structure houses more than 1,000 m² of shops and services at street level. A gently sloping, tree-lined promenade that changes with the seasons leads to a belvedere offering panoramic views of the site.
