Compact housing, tailored as closely as possible to people’s needs, raises many societal challenges.
It restricts residents’ ability to host friends and relatives, to organise gatherings and parties, so it must be accompanied by a shared vision of space.
Here we propose reclaiming the roof to create community areas.
Community vegetable gardens and a laundry are placed there, and the terrace becomes an amenity open to all, allowing everyone to reconnect with nature through simple, practical gestures.

In the eco-district of ZAC Clichy-Batignolles, Loci Anima has designed Habitat Soleil as an exemplary response to the challenges of a sustainable, inclusive, and generous city. The project reflects a strong environmental ambition and a warm yet contemporary architectural language.
The building is organized around a landscaped central courtyard—a space for breathing, gathering, and social connection. The volumes are fragmented to allow light and air to flow freely, offering each dwelling multiple orientations, generous balconies, and open views. The facade plays with sustainable materials in soft tones, integrating solar shading systems.
Habitat Soleil is also a human-centered project: it includes a variety of housing types, shared spaces, a community room, and local amenities. Architecture here becomes a facilitator of encounters, collective uses, and resident ownership.
With this project, Loci Anima expresses a clear conviction: to inhabit the city is also to create a sense of togetherness, in harmony with the environment, light, and everyday life.
