Zen Atalante, Rennes

Zen Atalante is a new-build development comprising two office buildings, Zen I and Zen II, in a rapidly changing area north-east of Rennes, in the ZAC ‘Atalante Viasilva’.
The tried-and-tested tool of the office bar is split up, sectioned and re-arranged to dynamically find its place in the site. This layout allows for a less massive, more human scale of construction. It creates visual porosity, and enhances the “signal” gables, visible from the site’s two main roads. These multiple orientations allow users to benefit from a maximum of natural light and views, while preserving the omnipresence of a continuous landscaped area.

The Zen Atalante project is an office development located in the Atalante Viasilva ZAC, northeast of Rennes, in a rapidly evolving area. This development includes two buildings: Zen I and Zen II, totaling a floor area of 15,500 m².

A modular and light-filled architecture
The firm Loci Anima rethought the classic office block typology by fragmenting, sectioning, and reorganizing it to integrate dynamically into the site. This approach reduces the scale of the building, making it more human, while promoting visual permeability and highlighting “signal” gable ends visible from the site’s two main axes. The multiple orientations of the buildings offer users abundant natural light and clear views while preserving a continuous landscaped space.
